MOGADISHU, SOMALIA (SONNA) — President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud convened an executive strategy session at the Presidential Palace today with a delegation of prominent Somali poets and cultural leaders to mobilize literary soft power in support of the federal state-building agenda and national stabilization efforts. The assembly focused extensively on utilizing traditional oral arts and contemporary creative expressions to enhance public awareness, promote peace, and rebuild national solidarity across the country.
President Mohamud expressed profound gratitude to the cultural custodians, describing their historic role in defending the state’s existence as a foundational pillar for societal reconciliation and psychological reconstruction. He noted that Somali poetry remains a primary mechanism for unifying public consciousness and fostering a shared sense of patriotic duty during periods of transition. The President highlighted that the strategic deployment of literature is essential for reclaiming the narrative landscape and protecting the cultural fabric of the nation from extremist ideologies.
The high-level consultation was also attended by the Presidential Advisor on Public Awareness and Mobilization, Hon. Abdirahman Abdikarim Abdi, who is tasked with aligning traditional communication vectors with federal policy frameworks. During the interactive session, the poets shared structural frameworks and strategic insights on how to institutionalize cultural heritage programs. The creative leadership committed to deploying their literature to advance peace, support governance structures, and accelerate civic education campaigns across all federal member states to ensure nationwide stabilization.
