Mogadishu, Somalia – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, today received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Djibouti, Mr. Abdiqadir Hussein Omar, at the Presidential Palace. The meeting marks the Djiboutian Minister’s first official visit to the country.
During the meeting, Minister Omar conveyed greetings and a message from his counterpart, President Ismail Omar Guelleh of Djibouti. President Mohamud, in turn, briefed the visiting minister on the overall situation in Somalia, with a particular focus on the ongoing efforts in national reconstruction, development, and the military operations aimed at eliminating Al-Shabaab and Daesh.
President Mohamud expressed his profound gratitude to the people and government of Djibouti for their consistent brotherly support to the Somali people. The two leaders also agreed to further strengthen the deep-rooted and strategic fraternal relationship between their nations, with a specific focus on enhanced cooperation in security and regional affairs. The meeting concluded on a positive note, reaffirming the strong and enduring bond between Somalia and Djibouti.
