MOGADISHU, Somalia — The Standing Committee of the People’s House of the Federal Parliament of Somalia convened today at Villa Hargeisa, in a session chaired by the Second Deputy Speaker, Mr. Abdullahi Omar Abshirow.
The first order of business was the official swearing-in of the newly appointed Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Family and Human Rights Development, Ms. Maryan Ali Abukar. The oath of office was administered during the committee meeting by MP Ali Haji Dahir, who serves as the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Judiciary, Justice and Religious Affairs.
Following the induction, the members of the Standing Committee proceeded to discuss the legislative schedule. The committee reviewed and debated the agendas for the upcoming general sessions of the People’s House. By a show of hands, the members officially approved the agendas set for debate in the main chamber next week.
In his closing remarks, Second Deputy Speaker Abdullahi Omar Abshirow concluded the meeting by urging the committee members to expedite the important tasks and legislative duties that are before the parliament during its current 7th session.
