New Foreign Minister Welcomed in Mogadishu

Mogadishu (SONNA)-His Excellency Mohamed Abdirizak Mohamud Abubakar, the newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia, arrived in Mogadishu and was welcomed at Aden Adde International Airport by former Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Isse Awad, Somali Minister of Fisheries Abdullahi Bidhan Warsame and Minister of State for Finance Mohamud Hair Ibrahim and other members of the foreign ministry,SONNA reported.

Former Somali foreign affairs minister Ahmed Isse Awad said he was happy to welcome the new minister and wished him well in his new role.

“I am very pleased to welcome today the new Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Mohamed Abdirizak Mohamud Abukar, and I will work with him to fulfill the difficult task assigned to him,” said the former Minister of Foreign Affairs.

His Excellency Mohamed Abdirizak Mohamud Abubakar, the newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia, thanked the members for their hospitality and also thanked the President and the Prime Minister for the appointment, noting that he will continue with the work.

“First of all, I would like to thank the President and the Prime Minister for giving me the opportunity to be part of the government and the process of strengthening the government. I also thank former Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Isse Awad for his good work he has done for the Nation.

Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble on the 20th of this month reshuffled the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and appointed Mohamed Abdirizak Mohamud Abubakar as Somalia’s new foreign minister.
