Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The National Flood Relief Committee had its first meeting today at the Somali Disaster Management Agency Headquarters in Mogadishu to discuss issues related to the El Nino and the flash floods in the country.
The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, HE Salah Ahmed Jama who is part of the committee and was attended by Ministers of the FGS and the Commissioner of SoDMA and parts of the community.
The Committee declared a state of emergency and asked for relief aid and donations to assist the Somali brothers and sisters affected by the floods which caused the overflow of the two rivers.
The Committee presented phone and bank numbers so that people can send their donations through those channels to join the assistance and help the needy people with food, clothes and shelter.
