Mogadishu, Somalia – The Supreme Court of Somalia has officially sworn in 30 new judges at a ceremony held at the court’s headquarters. These judges were selected through a rigorous open competition that saw over 2000 candidates vying for the esteemed positions.
The newly appointed judges will serve at the Banadir Regional Court, marking a milestone in the country’s efforts to strengthen its legal system. The President of the Supreme Court, Mr. Baashe Yusuf Ahmed, addressed the judges during the ceremony, urging them to uphold their duties with integrity and a deep sense of responsibility towards the divine and the people seeking justice.
Dignitaries including the Attorney General Dr. Suleiman Mohamed Mohamud, the Chairman of the Court of Appeal of Banadir Saeed Ali Mohamed, and the Chairman of the Court of Banadir Salah Ali Mohamud were present to witness the historic event.
Governor Baashe highlighted the challenging journey the judges had undergone during the selection process and emphasized the importance of their role in delivering justice to the Somali people. This event is a testament to Somalia’s commitment to judicial excellence and the rule of law.
