MOGADISHU, SONNA – The Minister of Planning, Investment and Economic Development, Mr. Mohamud Farah (Beenebeene), held a key meeting with Dr. Rukaya Mohammed, the head of UN Women in Somalia, to advance gender-focused initiatives within the country’s national development strategy.
The meeting was centered on aligning UN Women’s programs with Somalia’s National Transformation Plan (2025–2029). Both parties agreed to deepen their cooperation, particularly in areas of joint monitoring and evaluation to ensure that the progress of Somali women is effectively measured and documented.
The collaboration is a significant move toward integrating gender-responsive planning into the core of Somalia’s development agenda. By enhancing the collection and use of gender-related data, the Ministry and UN Women aim to work together to ensure that national efforts for development are inclusive and equitable, addressing the specific needs and challenges faced by women across the country.
