Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism of the Federal Government of Somalia expresses deep concern over the impact of the ongoing civil conflicts across various regions of the country.
The Ministry is closely monitoring the misuse of social media platforms and other media channels by individuals inciting violence and fueling conflicts. The dissemination of distressing videos, images, audio clips, and inflammatory texts is strictly prohibited under Islamic law, national regulations, international conventions, and social media policies.
In line with its mandate, the Ministry issues a stern warning to social media users engaged in spreading unrest and incitement. The government will take legal action against any individuals or platforms used to promote civil strife.
Every citizen bears a responsibility to prevent the escalation of conflicts and contribute to peacebuilding among our fellow countrymen. The Somali public is urged to report social media accounts or platforms inciting violence by contacting the Ministry at Info@moi.gov.so.
The Ministry extends its gratitude to media outlets and social media users who promote positive and educational messages, serving as exemplary contributors to peace and unity.
Finally, national law enforcement agencies, including the police and prosecution authorities, remain on high alert to take appropriate actions during this critical time.
