MOGADISHU, Somalia – The Ministry of Family and Human Rights Development of the Federal Government of Somalia has warmly congratulated the newly elected leadership of the Independent National Human Rights Commission. The Ministry described the successful election of the commission’s executive team on Wednesday as a major victory resulting from the government’s sustained efforts to complete the institutions essential for protecting the dignity and rights of Somali citizens.
Leading the congratulations, the Minister of Family and Human Rights Development, Amb. Khadija Mohamed Al-Makhzoumi, extended her best wishes to the new leadership team. The Commission members elected Dr. Maryan Qasim Ahmed as the Chairperson, Maxamed Harun Biixi as the Deputy Chairperson, and Fadumo Abdikani Yusuf as the Secretary. The Ministry expressed full confidence that this team will play a significant role in upholding justice and the rule of law in the country.
Speaking on the significance of this development, Minister Khadija Mohamed Al-Makhzoumi highlighted the historic nature of the occasion. “We are pleased that today marks a historic moment for Somalia, as we have completed the essential pillars for the establishment of the Independent National Human Rights Commission, which will now officially commence its duties,” the Minister stated.
