Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Federal Republic of Somalia’s Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, H.E. Daud Aweys Jama, hosted the African Union Representative to Somalia and Head of the AUSSOM Mission, Ambassador Souef Mohamed El-Amine, in his office today.
The two officials discussed key areas of cooperation, the launch of the new African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), and the support provided by the African Union to Somalia.
Minister Daud Aweys Jama briefed Ambassador El-Amine on Somalia’s progress in various sectors, including security, politics, economics, and social development. He highlighted the country’s significant strides and ongoing efforts to achieve sustainable growth and stability.
Additionally, the Minister provided updates on the region’s diplomatic initiatives, with Somalia playing an active role in efforts that contribute to peace and development across the Horn of Africa.
Ambassador El-Amine commended Somalia for its progress in multiple sectors, emphasizing that the new AUSSOM operation will pave the way for Somalia to take full responsibility for its security. He expressed confidence in the Somali National Armed Forces, affirming their readiness to fulfill their security mandate effectively.
This meeting underscored the shared commitment between Somalia and the African Union to foster long-term stability and prosperity in the region.
