Cairo, (SONNA): The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr. Ambassador Ahmed Ma’alin Fiqi, conducted an inspection visit to the Somali Embassy in Cairo, showing the importance of the diplomatic relationship between Somalia and Egypt. During his visit, the Minister engaged in a comprehensive meeting with the embassy’s diplomats and officials, receiving detailed briefings from the ambassador and other key personnel.

In his address, Minister Fiqi commended the embassy staff for their dedicated service to the nation and urged them to expedite their efforts in advancing Somalia’s interests. He emphasized the critical role that the embassy plays in fostering bilateral relations and supporting the Somali community in Egypt.

This visit comes at a crucial time, as Somalia and Egypt have recently signed a significant security cooperation agreement. This accord marks a new chapter in the longstanding relationship between the two nations, aimed at bolstering regional security and stability. The agreement, signed during a visit by Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to Cairo, includes provisions for military cooperation and mutual support in combating terrorism and other security threats.

The diplomatic relationship between Somalia and Egypt is of strategic importance. Egypt has historically been a steadfast ally, providing military assistance and support during critical periods in Somalia’s history. The recent security cooperation agreement further solidifies this bond, ensuring that both nations can work together to address common challenges and promote regional peace.

Minister Fiqi’s visit to the embassy highlights the ongoing commitment of the Somali government to strengthen its diplomatic presence and enhance cooperation with key international partners. As Somalia continues its journey towards stability and development, the support and collaboration of allies like Egypt remain indispensable.
