Cairo, (SONNA) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Ahmed Moallim Faqi Ahmed, met in Cairo with the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E Sameh Shukry, and sought with him strengthening bilateral relations and exploring new horizons for cooperation aimed at promoting the common interests of the two sister countries.
The meeting focused on major areas of cooperation, including economic, security, education, cultural, training and health aspects, as well as the implementation of a direct flight between the two countries in July and the opening of the Bank of Egypt branch in Somalia, as well as discussing the latest developments in the African Century region and regional and international issues of mutual interest.
Somalia has historically strong cooperative relations with Egypt, and considers it a strategic partner.
