Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Minister of Finance of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Bihi Iman Igeh, participated in the 23rd meeting of the Horn of Africa Initiative, hosted by the Ethiopian government, which currently leads the forum.
This three-month initiative focused on reviewing the achievements of member states over the past five years and outlined a future strategy primarily aimed at funding developmental projects across the Horn of Africa.
In his brief address at the meeting, Minister Bihi emphasized the importance of prioritizing investment projects for the region, particularly highlighting the need for targeted funding sources for Somalia’s economic development. He also called for strengthening trade collaboration among Horn of Africa nations.
During the discussions, it was agreed that Ethiopia, having led the initiative for the past two years, will hand over leadership to Somalia in April 2025. The next meeting, the 24th of its kind, is set to take place in Washington, D.C., USA.
