Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Minister of Finance of the Federal Government of Somalia, HE Bihi Iman Egeh who spoke with the Somali National Television said that our government’s budget has increased by %25 indicating that the Government can pay the staff salary without the need of support.
The Minister said that the Government has paid the last two months of salary without support which Somalia mostly depended on in the past.
“We did not need any support from foreign donors or aid to pay the salary for the past two months, the internal revenue has solved the salary of the government staff, truly speaking %25 is something big, but we need to increase the percentage from there”, Minister Bihi said.
He urged the Somali people to pay their taxes and hold the government accountable so that the government and its people have a transparent economy and accelerate the rebuilding of the country.
Minister Egeh said that we have reached a milestone due to the debt relief and we should not politicize the long-term process.
The Minister pointed out that the successes we are making came because we started to fight corruption and that has changed a lot for the financial system of our country.
