Oslo, Norway — Somalia’s Minister of Family and Human Rights Development, Ambassador Khadija Mohamed Al-Makhzoumi, is on an official working visit to Norway, where she has held a series of important meetings with senior Norwegian government and development officials. The visit aims to enhance bilateral relations and cooperation on social and human development issues.
Minister Al-Makhzoumi and her delegation met with the State Secretary of the Ministry of Labor and Social Inclusion of Norway, Kjetil Vevle. The discussion focused on strengthening collaboration between the two countries, particularly on social welfare and the improvement of services for children, persons with disabilities, and women. The minister was accompanied by the Director General of her ministry, Mohamed Bashir Omar, and Abdirahman Mohamed Alas, a member of the Norwegian Municipal Council.
In a separate meeting, Minister Al-Makhzoumi and her delegation met with the Director General of the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD), Kristin Hagstad. This meeting centered on reinforcing cooperation between Somalia and Norway on development projects. The talks specifically addressed initiatives related to child welfare and the overall empowerment of women through various projects.
The minister’s working visit to Norway is expected to continue with more key meetings with different government and non-governmental bodies, as Somalia seeks to build strategic partnerships to achieve its social and human rights development goals.
