Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Supreme Court of the Armed Forces has issued final verdicts in the case involving Mohamed Aadan Abukar, also known as Heyder Muqtaar Afgarasho, and Mohamed Qadar Ali Aadan, who were charged with responsibility for killings and bombings that took place in Balad Xaawo, Gedo, in 2025.
Following an extensive investigation, the Office of the Military Prosecutor brought the case before the court. After several hearings, the Court of First Instance issued its ruling on 4 December 2025, sentencing Mohamed Aadan Abukar to 15 years in prison for terrorism-related offenses, while Mohamed Qadar Ali Aadan received a 10-year terrorism sentence. The Military Prosecutor’s Office subsequently filed an appeal against the initial verdicts.
On 4 February, the Supreme Court of the Armed Forces heard the appeal, granted sufficient time for both parties to present their arguments, and today delivered its final judgment.
The Supreme Court ruled that both Mohamed Aadan Abukar (alias Heyder Muqtaar) and Mohamed Qadar Ali Aadan are each sentenced to 15 years in prison for terrorism-related crimes.
The decision was announced to the media by Brigadier General Liibaan Cali Yaroow, Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Armed Forces.
