Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Director General of the Immigration and Citizenship Authority (ICA), Mr. Mustafa Duhulow, today officially opened a 10-day advanced training program attended by 20 officers of the Authority. The training focuses on internet security, migration data management, and the use of modern technology in border management and service delivery.
ICA has already introduced modern digital services including migration management systems, passport issuance, and biometric data storage, which have improved efficiency and enhanced service delivery. This training is central to securing data and digital systems while preventing serious security threats such as illegal access and cyberattacks.
The Deputy Chief of Mission of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Somalia, Ms. Prestage Murima, noted that the training is vital for strengthening migration services, particularly in data management and passport security, highlighting IOM’s continued support to ICA through equipment and training.
The Representative of the Embassy of Switzerland in Somalia, Ms. Gisela Schlueb, also underlined the strong cooperation between the Swiss Embassy, ICA, and IOM, which has led to tangible progress, citing support in strengthening ICA’s LAN network. She added that this training will play a significant role in improving cybersecurity and data management.
The Director General expressed his gratitude to the Government of Switzerland and IOM for their contribution to the training, stressing ICA’s full commitment to advancing technological infrastructure in line with international standards.
He encouraged participants to make full use of the knowledge and experience shared during the training, emphasizing that cybersecurity is the backbone of modern data management and essential to maintaining public trust.
