The Chairman of Hormuud Telecom, Ahmed Mohamed Yusuf, has been recognized as the CXO of the Year at the Africa Tech Festival, a prestigious event that celebrates the achievements and innovations of African businesses in the fields of communication and technology.

The award was announced at a ceremony held in Cape Town, South Africa, on Thursday night. Chairman Ahmed competed with the leaders of four other prominent companies in Africa: Orange Egypt, Vodacom Group, Sasfin Bank, and African Bank.

The CXO of the Year award honors the executive who has demonstrated exceptional leadership, vision, and strategy in driving the growth and success of their organization, as well as contributing to the development of the African continent.

Chairman Ahmed has led Hormuud Telecom to become the largest telecommunications company in Somalia, with over 4 million customers and 12,000 employees. Under his leadership, Hormuud Telecom has also played a vital role in the economic development of Somalia, creating jobs, connecting people, and improving the lives of the society.

Hormuud Telecom has also been at the forefront of innovation and social responsibility, offering a range of services such as mobile money, e-commerce, health, education, and agriculture. The company has also won several global awards, such as the GSMA Mobile Money Award, the Global Mobile (GLOMO) Award, and the Changing Lives Award, for its outstanding performance and impact.

Chairman Ahmed expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the award, saying that it was a recognition of the hard work and dedication of the Hormuud Telecom team, as well as the resilience and potential of the Somali people.

He also said that he was proud to represent Somalia and Africa on the global stage, and that he hoped to inspire other African entrepreneurs and innovators to pursue their dreams and ambitions.

The Africa Tech Festival is an annual event that brings together thousands of participants from across the continent and beyond, to showcase the latest trends and opportunities in the African tech ecosystem. The event also features various awards, such as the AfricaCom Awards, the AfricaTech Awards, and the CXO of the Year Award, to celebrate the excellence and achievements of the African tech industry.
