Djibouti, (SONNA) – The President of Galmudug State of Somalia, H.E Ahmed Abdi Kariye (Qoorqoor), accompanied by federal lawmakers and members of his cabinet, has held a series of official meetings in Djibouti following an invitation from President Ismail Omar Guelleh.
The delegation met with President Guelleh at the Presidential Palace, where discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation in political, security, and development sectors. The Galmudug leader also held talks with Prime Minister Abdoulkader Kamil Mohamed on expanding government-to-government collaboration, and with National Assembly Speaker Dileita Mohamed Dileita on deepening parliamentary ties and knowledge exchange.
Federal MP Abdirizak Adam Warsame, a member of the delegation, praised Djibouti’s longstanding role in supporting Somalia, expressing gratitude to President Guelleh, his government, and the people of Djibouti for the warm reception. He highlighted the remarkable progress and urban development he observed in Djibouti, particularly in Arta, which remains a historic symbol of Somalia’s reconciliation process following its landmark 2000 conference.
MP Warsame emphasized that the Arta Conference marked a pivotal moment in Somalia’s modern history, crediting Djibouti’s leadership with standing by the Somali people during critical times and contributing to the revival of state institutions. He concluded by extending best wishes for continued success and prosperity to the government and people of Djibouti, underscoring the enduring fraternal bonds between the two nations.
