Mogadishu (SONNA) — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia has extended heartfelt condolences to the family, relatives, and the entire Somali nation following the passing of Ambassador Ahmed Abdalla Mohamed, who died on Sunday evening in Minnesota, United States.
Ambassador Ahmed was a distinguished Somali diplomat who served the Republic with honor and integrity. Over the course of his career, he held diplomatic postings in Tunisia, Algeria, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, including an extended tenure in Riyadh. He played a notable role in strengthening Somalia’s diplomatic presence and advancing bilateral relations with these countries.
He will be remembered for his dedication, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to public service. Prior to joining the diplomatic corps, Ambassador Ahmed was an educator who taught and mentored generations of Somalis. He also began his professional career as a journalist with the Arabic Service of Radio Muqdisho. His life stood as a testament to service in education, nationhood, and community development.
His passing leaves a lasting mark on the history of Somali diplomacy. He is survived by a family deeply rooted in national service, including his son, Towfiiq Ahmed Abdalla, who previously served within Somalia’s national institutions in Egypt. The loss is deeply felt across the diplomatic community and among Somalis at home and abroad who knew or worked with him.
The Ministry once again conveys its deepest sympathies to his family, relatives, friends, and all those mourning his loss. May Allah grant him mercy, admit him to Jannatul Firdaus, and bestow patience and faith upon all who grieve his passing.
