Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Ahmed Moallim Fiqi inaugurated the Somali-Norwegian Business Summit in Mogadishu on Monday with the participation of members of the Somali Federal Parliament, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Norwegian Embassy, H.E. Mr. Carsten Carlsen, and members of the Somali diaspora returning from Norway, under the theme “Unlocking Somalia’s Potential: Reducing corruption, empowering investments, and building sustainable partnerships”.
In his remarks, the Foreign Minister commended the Somali diaspora in Norway for fostering ties between the two countries and recognized their significant contributions. He highlighted Norway’s active role in supporting development projects and emphasized the importance of transferring knowledge and expertise to advance economic recovery in key sectors.
The Minister also called for collective efforts to strengthen the national agenda for the country’s recovery and sustainable growth.
Key addresses were delivered by the Director of the Diaspora Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ibrahim Gure Mohamed, and the Chairman of the Somali-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce, Mohamed Abdelqader, and his deputy, Sadad Dakhare.
The summit marked an important step toward deepening collaboration and fostering investment opportunities.
