Dhusamareb :(SONNA): Residents of Qaradhi town in the Galgadud region are complaining of a severe drought that has affected people and livestock, urging speedy assistance from the Somali federal government, Galmudug regional administration, and aid agencies, SONNA reported.

Ilyas Hassan Ugas, a resident of Qaradhi town, told the state media that the town doesn’t have any educational facilities or health centers in the area, in addition to the drought and livestock shortages in recent years.

Mahad Elmi, chairman of Qaradhi town appealed to the Federal and regional government and all aid agencies to provide immediate assistance to those affected by the severe drought in Qaradhi town.

The rain hasn’t fallen in Qaradhi town in the last three years, while the town’s shallow wells have dried up, with most of their livestock depleted after severe deforestation and prolonged drought.
