Deputy Prime Minister Salah Ahmed Jama visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Headquarters, where he commended the Ministry’s team for their comprehensive presentation on Somalia’s diplomatic achievements and efforts to strengthen the nation’s global standing. The Deputy Prime Minister appreciated the Ministry’s role in advancing Somalia’s foreign policy and its ongoing initiatives to enhance regional and international partnerships.
During the visit, Foreign Minister Ambassador Ahmed Moallim Fiqi provided a detailed briefing on the Ministry’s history and reforms. He highlighted key achievements, including revitalising the Diplomatic Institute to build Somalia’s diplomatic capacity and restructuring departments to improve efficiency and align with national priorities. The Minister also outlined efforts to strengthen Somalia’s role within the East African Community (EAC), including initiatives to secure the East African Community Passport to facilitate regional mobility for Somali citizens.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the Ministry’s crucial role in Somalia’s state-building process, noting the importance of fostering self-reliance and sustainable development. His remarks underscored the government’s commitment to creating a robust economic foundation through diplomacy and effective governance.
Also present include The State Minister at the Office of the Prime Minister, Hersi Jama Ghani, and the Director General for the East African Community at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mohamed Fatir. Also, departmental directors from the Ministry, and departmental directors from the Office of the Prime Minister were present. Their participation underscored the collaborative efforts across government institutions to advance Somalia’s diplomatic and regional integration objectives.
