Mogadishu, (SONNA): The Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Salah Ahmed Jama, held a meeting with the Commissioner of the National Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Mohamud Macallin Abdulle. The meeting was also attended by the ministers of disaster management from the country’s regional governments and the interim administration of SSC Khatumo, as part of the forum on humanitarian issues.
The discussions focused on the current humanitarian situation in Somalia and preparations for the anticipated La Niña-induced drought, which is expected to be as severe as the 2022 drought that nearly led to famine.
Commissioner Mohamud Macallin Abdulle urged the Deputy Prime Minister to engage with relevant institutions to ensure that SoDMA is given special consideration in the National Transformation Plan (NTP). This, he emphasized, is crucial for the success of the agency’s humanitarian efforts.
