Mogadishu, 28 June: The Somali National Army’s elite Danab Commandos, in coordination with international partners, have conducted a planned operation in Maqoogaha village, located approximately 13km west of Buulo Xaaji in Lower Jubba region.
This carefully executed operation resulted in the elimination of over 37 Al-Shabaab militants, including key leaders whose identities will be officially released in due course.
The Somali National Army, particularly the Danab Commandos, will continue their wide-scale offensive to dismantle the terrorist network. Such operations are clear proof of our armed forces’ unwavering commitment to defending the nation, protecting civilians, and ensuring lasting stability.
The Ministry of Defence commends the bravery and professionalism of Danab and our international partners supporting these ongoing operations, and reiterates that the fight to eradicate Al-Shabaab continues on all fronts.
