MOGADISHU, Somalia – The elite Danab Commandos of the Somali National Army, operating in close coordination with Jubbaland State security forces, have launched a decisive counter-offensive targeting the remnants of Kharijite militias in the vicinity of Kudhaa. The operation, executed in the coastal areas of the Lower Juba region, was a direct response to a failed attack attempted by the terror group on the town the previous day.
Security officials report that the intelligence-led mission lasted for several hours, resulting in a significant blow to the insurgents. During the tactical engagement, the joint forces successfully neutralized multiple senior leaders and a large number of militiamen who were attempting to flee the area following their defeat. The strike was described as a calculated maneuver to dismantle the group’s operational capacity in the region.
Following the intense confrontation, the strategic coastal town of Kudhaa remains fully under the control of the Somali National Army and Jubbaland forces. The presence of the Danab Commandos has bolstered the security perimeter, ensuring stability for the local population and denying the militants any foothold in the district.
Military operations are currently continuing beyond the town as the joint forces pursue the scattered remnants of the militia deep into the rural zones. Commanders on the ground have affirmed that clearing operations will persist to eliminate any lingering threat and to ensure that the terrorists are unable to regroup or pose a future danger to the stability of the Lower Juba region.
