Addis Ababa (SONNA) – The Minister of Commerce and Industry of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Jamaal Mohamed Hassan, held a series of high-level meetings in Addis Ababa aimed at strengthening regional and international cooperation to advance Somalia’s trade, investment, and industrial development agenda.
Minister Jamaal met with Claver Gatete, Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Africa and Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa. Discussions focused on enhancing collaboration in trade, promoting investment, and supporting Somalia’s economic recovery. The minister emphasized the need to accelerate technical assistance and investment to boost domestic production, facilitate trade, and advance industrialization.
In a separate meeting, Minister Jamaal held talks with Francisca Tatchouop Belobe, Commissioner for Economic Development, Trade, Tourism, Industry and Minerals at the African Union. The discussions highlighted the African Union’s strategic initiatives on trade and entrepreneurship, with both sides expressing optimism about deepening cooperation to promote regional integration and shared prosperity across Africa.
Minister Jamaal described the engagements as encouraging, reaffirming Somalia’s commitment to working closely with continental and international partners to foster inclusive growth and sustainable economic development.
