Beijing, SONNA – Somalia’s Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Daud Aweis Jama, has participated in the sixth Forum on China-Africa Media Cooperation in Beijing, where he delivered a keynote speech. Despite challenges, including threats posed by terrorists to journalists, Minister Jama emphasized that the Somali media has shown remarkable resilience and determination in providing information to the public, promoting dialogue, and upholding the values of press freedom and freedom of expression.
“The media is essential for building peace,” Minister Jama stated. “The rapid development of the world’s media requires strong cooperation from governments. This conference is an example of the commitment of the Chinese government to improve relations on the African continent.”
The minister also expressed gratitude to China for its support of Somalia’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity. “As Somalia continues to stabilize and combat terrorism, cooperation in media development is crucial,” he added.
