Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Governor of Banadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu, H.E Mohamed Ahmed Amiin, has issued an emergency statement in response to the heavy rainfall that has caused widespread flooding in the capital and surrounding areas.

“The torrential rains in Mogadishu and its outskirts have led to serious consequences, and we have taken every possible measure to address the situation,” said Governor Amiin. “A comprehensive report detailing the impact of the floods will be released soon, and immediate relief aid will be delivered to those affected.”

The Mayor added that emergency response teams are actively working to manage the effects of the floods, deploying water pumps and suction trucks to drain flood-prone areas.

Addressing the damage to infrastructure, the Governor stated, “The roads damaged by the floods will be rebuilt urgently. We are instructing the construction companies originally responsible for these roads to carry out repairs using higher-quality materials.”

The Banadir Regional Administration continues to lead coordinated efforts to mitigate the impact of the floods and support affected residents across Mogadishu.
