Information Ministry Rejects False Allegations Against Somali Journalists

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism expresses deep concern over false information published on an X account operating under the name “Counter Terrorism Policing KE,” which used photographs of Somali journalists.

The Ministry categorically rejects the allegations concerning the well-known journalists and social media figures whose photographs appeared in the posts. These allegations are false and baseless and are intended to damage their reputations, undermine their freedom of expression, and jeopardize their safety.

In coordination with the relevant authorities, the Ministry is investigating the account and those behind it, with a view to pursuing appropriate legal action against those responsible for disseminating the false information.

The Federal Government of Somalia remains committed to protecting the rights, dignity, and safety of journalists and promoting the responsible use of media and social media platforms.
