Defence Minister Fiqi Receives TURKSOM Commander and Turkish Military Delegation

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Minister of Defence of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, received a delegation of Turkish military officers at his office, led by the Commander of the TURKSOM Military Training Academy, Major General Sabahattin Kalkan.

The delegation included Captain Dr. Haldun S. Çetinarslan, Türkiye’s Military and Naval Attaché, who is concluding his tenure in Somalia, and Colonel Dr. Mehmet Serhan Yıldız, Türkiye’s newly appointed Air Attaché.

The meeting focused on strengthening defence cooperation between Somalia and Türkiye, particularly in training and enhancing the capabilities of the Somali National Armed Forces.

The Minister commended TURKSOM’s role in training and developing the professional skills of Somali military personnel. He thanked the Government of Türkiye for its continued support for Somalia’s efforts to rebuild its armed forces and ensure the country’s security and stability.
