Mogadishu, (SONNA) – A funeral prayer ceremony was held for the late Director of Somali Cable Television, Abdifatah Moalim Nur (Qeys) who died last night after a terrorist blew himself at a restaurant in Mogadishu.
The prayer ceremony was attended by journalists from different TVs and Radios and officials and they prayed for him asking Allah to give him peace in his grave.
The Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, HE Daud Aweis Jama, the Director General, and the staff sent their condolences to the family friends and Somali people on the passing of the late Abdifatah Moalim Nur (Qeys) who was the Director of Somali Cable Television office in Mogadishu.
“Saddened by the tragic loss of Abdifatah Moalim Nur, Director of Somali Cable TV. Our hearts go out to his family, colleagues, and the media community. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his extraordinary work in journalism be celebrated and remembered,” Minister Daud said.
“Our hearts are heavy with the news of the tragic attack in Mogadishu, which claimed the life of distinguished journalist Abdifatah Moallim Nur ‘Qeys’. We send our condolences to his loved ones. We condemn this act of violence and stand with the people of Somalia in their pursuit of peace, justice, and prosperity,” the US Embassy in Somalia posted in their X platform.
The Former Director was killed in an explosion that was instigated by the Al-Shabaab terrorist militants at a restaurant in the capital.
The Somali Police Force released preliminary evidence regarding the explosion that took place last night in a restaurant known as Blue Sky near the Somali National Theatre.
The details of the explosion included the injury of 4 individuals and the death of the former Somali Cable TV, Abdifatah Qeys.
