Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Commissioner of Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) Mohamud Moallim held a productive discussion with World Bank’s Country Manager Kristina Svensson, fostering insights and future opportunities.
The meeting centered on strengthening the long-standing partnership and reflecting on the tremendous impact of the Somalia Crisis Recovery Project (SCRP).
The meeting acknowledged key achievements, such as the operational National Emergency Operations Center and the piloted Early Warning System, which have enhanced Somalia’s disaster preparedness.
As SCRP nears its conclusion, discussions emphasize the need for sustainable financing and institutional continuity to maintain progress.
SoDMA has reaffirmed its role as Somalia’s main agency for disaster risk reduction, emphasizing the need to strengthen recovery efforts, particularly for infrastructure affected by El-Niño.
The Commissioner thanked the World Bank for its support and is hopeful for ongoing collaboration to strengthen Somalia.
