Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Minister of Defence of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Abdikadir Mohamed Nur said the approval of the motion by the Turkish parliament that grants approval to H.E Recep Tayyib Erdogan, the President of the Republic of Türkiye to send naval troops to Somalia marks a crucial milestone in implementing the defense and economic cooperation agreement between Somalia and Türkiye.
“In the efforts to enhance maritime security, Türkiye and Somalia are not only working towards stabilizing the waters of the Somali coast but also fostering a partnership that underscores their commitment to regional peace and security and bolsters efforts in combating terrorism, piracy, illicit weapons trafficking and other threats,” the Minister added.
This effort signifies a mutual commitment between Somalia and Türkiye in addressing challenges and fostering a safer, more prosperous future for Somalia and the region.
