Somalia’s President, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, extended warm wishes to Djibouti on its 47th Independence Day, marking June 27th. The President’s message acknowledged the deep bond between the two nations, highlighting their shared history, culture, and ancestry.

“I congratulate our brothers in the Republic of Djibouti on the 47th anniversary of independence,” stated President Mohamud. “Somalia and Djibouti share a long history, culture and blood. We are proud of the progress and unity achieved by our brothers in Djibouti, and we wish them a bright future and lasting peace.”

President Mohamud also emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between the two countries in crucial areas like security, economic development, and social affairs. He expressed gratitude to the Djiboutian government and people for their unwavering support in rebuilding Somalia’s government.

Echoing the President’s sentiments, Somalia’s Speaker of the People’s Assembly, Sheikh Adan Mohamed Noor Madobe, sent his own congratulatory message to Djibouti. Speaker Madobe commended the Djiboutian people for their hard-fought struggle for independence and their unwavering commitment to maintaining their progress and stable government.

He further praised Djibouti’s achievements, highlighting their positive role in the development of the Horn of Africa region. Speaker Madobe concluded his message by wishing the people of Djibouti continued prosperity and advancement in building a stronger nation.

This exchange of messages underscores the strong bond between Somalia and Djibouti. As Djibouti celebrates its independence anniversary, Somalia stands together, recognizing their shared history and expressing a desire for continued collaboration on multiple fronts.
