Bay, Southwest – The Somali National Army’s 60th division, operating in the Goof-gaduud area of the Bay region, has successfully secured the surrender of two members of the al-Shabaab Khwaarij. The individuals, identified as Ali Hassan Ali, commonly known as Ali dheere, and Mohamed Abdullahi Ali, have been involved with the Khawarij for extended periods.
Ali Hassan Ali, a veteran member of the Khawarij for 12 years, has actively participated in the group’s battles. Meanwhile, Mohamed Abdullahi Ali, who joined the terrorists in the ‘20-jirow’ area, was responsible for extorting the local populace in the Bay region.
The surrender of these members marks a continuing trend, as the number of militants and leaders abandoning the Khawarij has been on the rise in recent months. This event represents a positive stride towards peace and stability in the region, reflecting the effectiveness of the Somali army’s ongoing efforts against insurgent groups.
The Somali government continues to encourage members of Terror groups to lay down their arms and engage in dialogue, aiming to reintegrate them into society and reduce the influence of extremist factions within the nation.
