Kenya Airways has resumed its flights to Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, after a hiatus of more than two years. The first flight, which carried cargo, landed at Aden Abdulle International Airport on February 9, 2024. It was also the first flight to display the official logo of the Kenyan national carrier in Mogadishu, signalling the start of regular flights between the two cities.
The Somali Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) welcomed the return of Kenya Airways, saying it was part of its plan to increase international flights to the country and provide more options for travellers. The SCAA and other agencies have been working to improve the services and facilities at the airport and the country.
