Mogadishu, (SONNA) – De-Martino Public Hospital is a public healthcare institution that has been serving the Somali people for
over a century.
It was founded in 1922 by the Italian colonial administration and named after General Cesare Maria De Vecchi di
Val Cismon, who was also known as De-Martino.
The hospital is located in Mogadishu, the capital city of Somalia, and is the oldest and largest public hospital in the
country.
The hospital has a capacity of more than 280 beds and employs a wide range of staff, including doctors, nurses,
laboratories, anesthesiologists, hygienists, cleaners, porters, guides, IT, HR logistics, and others.
The hospital is managed by the Minister of Health (FMOH).
The hospital offers a wide range of health services to more than 550 patients every morning, including children,
women (pregnant or not pregnant), and adults who become hospitalized or outpatient.
The hospital has various departments, such as general medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, general
surgery, laboratory, pharmacy, diagnostic imaging, IPD ward, clinic, emergency department and ICU.
