Mogadishu, Somalia – In a tragic incident on Friday afternoon, Deputy Commissioner Abdikarim Moalim Ahmed (commonly known as Afar-Shagle) of the Marka district was assassinated in a suicide attack. The assailant, believed to be affiliated with the extremist group Al-Shabaab, approached Ahmed and detonated an explosive device, causing significant loss and mourning in the community.

The targeted attack took place in the heart of Mogadishu, the capital city of Somalia. Abdikarim Moalim Ahmed, a dedicated public servant, had been serving as the deputy commissioner of the Marka district, working tirelessly to ensure the welfare and safety of its residents. The attack not only claimed the life of a highly esteemed individual but also delivered a severe blow to the local administration and the community at large.

The perpetrator, identified as a lone terrorist, managed to infiltrate the area and approach Deputy Commissioner Ahmed before detonating the explosive device. Preliminary investigations point to Al-Shabaab as the group behind this heinous act, given their history of similar attacks targeting government officials and innocent civilians in Somalia.

The news of Abdikarim Moalim Ahmed’s assassination has sent shockwaves through the community, with an outpouring of grief and condemnation for this despicable act of violence. Ahmed was known for his dedication, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to serving the public. He played a crucial role in promoting peace and stability in the Marka district, working hand in hand with local communities to address pressing issues and implement developmental projects.

The loss of Abdikarim Moalim Ahmed is not only a personal tragedy for his family and friends but also a significant blow to the ongoing efforts to build a peaceful and prosperous Somalia. His untimely death serves as a stark reminder of the challenges faced by public servants who bravely confront extremism and work tirelessly to improve the lives of their fellow citizens.

Somali authorities, including the federal government and security agencies, have strongly condemned the attack and vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice. They have emphasized their commitment to combating terrorism and ensuring the safety of Somali citizens. The incident further underscores the need for continued efforts to counter extremist ideologies, enhance security measures, and foster unity among Somali communities against such acts of violence.

As the nation mourns the loss of Deputy Commissioner Abdikarim Moalim Ahmed, his contributions to the community and his sacrifice will be remembered. The attack on a dedicated public servant serves as a stark reminder of the challenges that Somalia continues to face in its journey towards peace, stability, and prosperity.

The government and people of Somalia stand united in denouncing acts of terrorism and reaffirm their determination to build a resilient society that can overcome such atrocities. The memory of Abdikarim Moalim Ahmed will endure as a symbol of resilience and courage, motivating others to continue his noble mission of serving the people and working towards a brighter future for Somalia.
