Mogadishu – (SONNA) – The Somali government’s anti-corruption plan is making steady progress, according to Hassan Maallim Mohamud, the Minister of Justice and Constitution of the Federal Government of Somalia. He stated that the establishment of an anti-corruption committee, which is constitutional, is currently underway.
The committee will be presented to both the Council of Ministers and Parliament for approval. This move is seen as a significant step in the government’s efforts to combat corruption within its border.
Mohamud added that the government will continue to carry out necessary activities to combat corruption under its laws. This includes the implementation of measures aimed at increasing transparency and accountability in all sector
In addition, Sheikh Mohamed Idris praised the government’s corruption crackdown. He stated that Islam instructs every Muslim to protect trust and described corruption as forbidden by God. This endorsement from a religious leader adds further weight to the government’s effort
