Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who opened the annual meeting of the country’s judiciary, noted the importance of the Somali government in the unification of the judiciary and the implementation of justice.
The President said that the Federal Government has taken important steps to empower the judiciary, as the meetings of the Consultation Forum in Mogadishu concluded last month approved the process of Federalization of the Judiciary, and the government is committed to strengthening the independence and trust of the people in the institutions of justice.
“The judge is independent. The Supreme Council of the Judicial Service should not be interfered with. We do not want two citizens with different rights to live in Somalia.”
President Hassan Sheikh urged the justice community to work hard to secure justice and avoid supporting the oppressor, underlining that the Federal Government of Somalia is committed to improving and strengthening the power and capacity of justice enforcement agencies.
“We don’t want to confuse two things, the federalization of the country is based on the unity of one country. On the other hand, the federalization of the country does not mean that anyone can go where he wants and the country will be divided, no to that”.
The President pointed out that peace and justice are the foundations of life and governance, and he called on the Somali people to strengthen their voice and wisdom to support their vision of a peaceful Somali and peace with the world.
