Mogadishu (SONNA) – The chairman of the Federal electoral commission of Somalia, Mohamed Hassan Irro, addressed the media at a consultative meeting on Friday night, which focused on electoral issues.
Chairman Irro said that the meeting focused on how to expedite the elections and the obstacles to holding the elections on time.
“The meeting focused on how to accelerate the elections, ways to share information and what are the challenges in holding of the elections on time, and our past and present situations,” said Irro.
Also, the chairman pointed out that in the meeting they talked about a report on the delays in the election schedule, the transparency of the elections, and the co-operation required from the heads of state.
He emphasized that the key was to ensure that the elections were held in a timely manner.
Members of the national consultative assembly agreed to expedite the elections and hold a meeting soon to discuss the completion of the elections.
