Nouakchott (SONNA) – Mauritania has formed a new government, headed by Prime minister Mohamed Ould Bilal, the country’s presidency announced on Sunday.
Seventeen ministers retained their portfolios, while six new ministers joined the new cabinet. The primary and secondary education sectors were merged into the Ministry of National Education, and the Ministry of Investment with the Ministry of Economy and Industry.
Secretary General of Mauritania’s Presidency Adama Bocar Soko said at a press conference that the reshuffle is closely linked to the parliamentary committee’s investigation, which was recently released.
He pointed out that the move would allow all members of the resigned government, who were named in the report of the parliamentary investigation committee, the time they need to prove their innocence.
