Kunming, SONNA – The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Isaak Mohamud Mursal, participated on Saturday in the 2nd China-Indian Ocean Region Forum on Blue Economy Cooperation, held in Kunming, the capital of Southwest China’s Yunnan province.
Deputy Foreign Minister addressed the Forum, expressing gratitude to China for hosting the event. He stressed the importance of collaborative efforts to address challenges in the blue economy, including overfishing and climate change. Somalia unveiled a national strategy for the blue economy and pledged to combat illegal fishing.
Mursal also drew attention to a humanitarian crisis caused by recent floods in Somalia, urging international support.
On the sidelines of the forum, Isaak Mursal engaged in a bilateral meeting with Liu Junfeng, the Vice-Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA). During this interaction, Liu Junfeng announced China’s commitment to providing additional relief aid to Somalia.
