Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Federal Government of Somalia wishes to announce that more than 3,795 Al-Shabab terrorists have been killed since the onset of government-led military operations against the group.

According to the Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, HE Daud Aweis Jama, more than 120 areas have been liberated from the terrorist militants by the Somali National Army with the support of the local forces.

The Government suspended 350 bank accounts, 405 telephone numbers and 18 merchant business accounts that were owned by the terrorist militias.

Meanwhile, as the Al-Shabaab terrorists took huge damages, the Somali Army destroyed 73 bases and 68 networks that they used to mislead the people.

This comes as the country inches closer to the second phase of this military offensive against the terror group that has wreaked havoc, destruction, and pain on Somali citizens for the past decade.

The Minister of Information said in a press statement that the FGS is waging war on the Al-Shabaab terrorists on all fronts including the businessmen that support their cause their businesses and any other way that they could get financed.

The Government has stopped a huge sum of 150 million dollars that was meant for the militant group.

Moreover, the information technologies that the Kharijite group used to own have been closed by the Somali Government including 4 radios, 12 websites, and 14,789 social media platforms that they used to spread their harmful ideologies.

Meanwhile, as the Al Shabab terror group continues to suffer defeats at the frontlines upcountry, the Federal Government of Somalia is set to launch a major security operation in the capital Mogadishu to ensure that the fugitive terrorists do not harm the city and its civilians in retaliation.

The Federal Government of Somalia has been waging a formidable war against the Al-Shabab Kharijites since President Hassan Sheikh came into power on 15 May 2022.

The Federal Government of Somalia stands by its commitment to ensuring that the Somali National Army is carrying out the ongoing operations in strict compliance with its obligations under international humanitarian law, human rights law, Islamic law and Somali customary rules of warfare.
