Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The 17th joint session of the two chambers of Somalia’s Federal Parliament officially opened today, with lawmakers discussing proposed amendments to Chapter Six concerning the establishment of parliamentary committees.
The session’s debate is focusing on issues related to the powers of both houses and the legislative procedures of Parliament, examining ways to align them with constitutional requirements and institutional practices.
This meeting forms part of ongoing efforts to finalize the review and amendment of the Constitution, aiming to establish a legal framework that is robust, transparent, and responsive to the needs of governance and the will of the Somali people.
