Ankara, Turkey – The Turkish government has announced a new approach to the ongoing dialogue between Somalia and Ethiopia. In an exclusive interview with Anadolu News Agency, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakam Fidan revealed that Turkey will introduce a new format for the discussions, which are set to take place for the third time in Ankara.
Minister Fidan expressed optimism about the upcoming talks, stating that he hopes the two nations will reach an official agreement that addresses Ethiopia’s concerns. “We have great hope that this new format will facilitate a resolution that satisfies both parties,” Fidan said.
The Federal Government of Somalia has previously declared that the agreement signed by Ethiopia in Somaliland was illegal and violated Somalia’s unity and independence. The upcoming dialogue in Ankara aims to address these contentious issues and foster a mutually beneficial relationship between Somalia and Ethiopia.
