The Federal Government of Somalia strongly condemns the latest unfortunate attack targeting humanitarian aid workers’ base in Halane, Mogadishu today on Tuesday.
Such nature of attack is an attempt that seeks to undermine the outstanding support of the international community and their efforts towards building peace and long-term stability in Somalia.
This new terrorism trend hasbeen witnessed in the past few months where a global chain of attacks from terrorist organizations has seen humanitarian and members of the diplomatic community fall victim.
The mortar attack makes evident the frail attempts of the weakening terror organizations who have since turned to harmless humanitarian aid workers as their targets following our concerted efforts to wipe them from the face of our territories.
The united and courageous resolve of the people and Federal Government of Somalia will not be derailed by such motives from terrorist organization whose objectives remain deterring the partners and friends of Somalia from providing much needed support and cooperation.
The Federal Government of Somalia has since enhanced security in the area as all our institutions in charge of Security continue to gather more information on the attack.
We wish to assure the international community and the aid workers that the government will continue to partner with security stakeholders to intensify security for the smooth operations of aid workers in the country.
