The Southwest State Parliament extended a warm welcome to the Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SODMA), Mr. Mohamud Maallim Abdulle, and his delegation.
The Commissioner’s visit is primarily focused on assessing the living conditions of the impoverished communities that are still recovering from the devastating impacts of last year’s El Niño. This evaluation is crucial as it will inform the distribution strategy of SODMA’s aid to those most in need.
In a proactive measure, Commissioner Abdulle convened with the Minister of Relief of the Southern Administration, Abdinasir Abdi Aroush, to advocate for public safety. They urged residents to avoid areas near waterways that are prone to flooding during this season.
Looking ahead, SODMA is poised to deliver humanitarian assistance to the residents of Baidoa and Burhaka, with particular attention to the impoverished sectors of these communities. This initiative is a testament to the ongoing efforts to provide relief and support to vulnerable populations in the country.
