Baidoa (SONNA) – The Secretary-General of Somalia’s National Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, Hussein Nunow Ali, today presented candidacy certificates to candidates contesting for the leadership of the Parliament of South West State.
For the position of Speaker of Parliament, Mahad Mohamed Sheikh Hassan of the JSP party will compete against Abdihakim Mahmoud Fiqi of the National Unity and Development Party (NUP).
Meanwhile, Adan Hassan Mohamed (JSP) and Abdirizak Hussein Adan (Karaama) are contesting for the position of First Deputy Speaker, while Shamso Mohamed Yarow (JSP) and Axlaam Omar Mohamed (Karaama) are vying for the post of Second Deputy Speaker.
The election for the leadership of the South West State Parliament is scheduled to take place on 4 June 2026.
